The Carson-Newman A Cappella Choir wraps up their fundraising efforts on Sunday, for their Christmas break mission trip to Israel and the Holy Lands.

The trip will begin December 14th and conclude Christmas Day. While in Israel they will sing in Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Jordan.. They will also be touring historic places from the Bible, such as Qumran, the site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, and Mount Zion, the site where Jesus performed much of His ministry. The highlight of the trip will be presenting the Christmas portion of Handel's "Messiah" on Christmas Eve in Bethlehem.

To fund the trip, the choir, the 50-plus member choir was split into three separate groups who in turn performed concerts at local churches. The groups performed a total of 14 services over the span of three weeks collecting donations and love offerings to defray the cost of the trip. Each small group consisted of a pianist, organist, worship leader and chaplain who each shared their talents along with that of the choir.

The choir has already received money from the college, as well as each individual having to raise hundreds of dollars themselves to help cover the costs. This fundraising effort hopes to tally upwards of 10,000 dollars just from the Sundays spent at local churches.
